On October 4th, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM, the historic Palazzo Guerrieri in Brindisi hosted the Multiplier Event for the Green Urban Paths (GUP) project, as part of the broader initiative “Il Rione Le Sciabiche e i suoi Abitanti.” Organized by TQC SRL, which manages the innovation hub within Palazzo Guerrieri, the event aimed to rediscover and promote one of the most historically significant areas of Brindisi.
The event was co-organized with the Brindisi International Yachting Fellowship of Rotarians (IYFR) and supported by the Municipality of Brindisi, Fondo Italiano Ambiente (FAI), Rotary Club Brindisi Valesio, and the Inner Wheel Clubs of Brindisi and Mesagne. Over 60 participants, including students, cultural operators, professors, and notable local figures, attended the event.
Noteworthy contributors included Prof. Mario Longo, Director of the Department of Human and So
cial Sciences at the University of Salento, and Dr. Giuseppina Scarano, Commander of IYFR Brindisi. Prof. Rosa Parisi, anthropologist at the University of Salento, presented the cultural heritage of fishing in the area, while Dr. Lucia Cappiello, geographer at the University of Basilicata, highlighted tourism and cultural development opportunities.
The event served as a platform to unveil the GUP projectโs HUB and materials, such as guides and scripts, with Raffaella Ferreri from TQC previewing the upcoming release of the GUP APP. The gathering emphasized the importance of leveraging such tools for community engagement, tourism, and territorial marketing.
A sense of inclusion and community spirit permeated the event, with the participation of volunteers from local associations and young members of the Associazione Persone Dawn. The event promoted values of solidarity and inclusion, reinforcing the idea that through cultural heritage, art, and collaboration with local stakeholders, a more cohesive, inclusive, and respectful society can be designed.
Livia Antonucci, Brindisi’s Councillor for the Environment, concluded the event, reinforcing the importance of preserving local memory and heritage for future generations.
